Reverend Traci Jackson utilizes her faith and understanding of domestic and sexual violence, as well as trauma, to amplify the voices of African American victims and survivors. She is the Founding Executive Director of the Domestic and Sexual Violence Project at the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts. This groundbreaking initiative offers culturally specific direct services and support to victims and survivors within their communities.
In addition to providing direct services, Traci delivers training and education focused on trauma and cultural competency to law enforcement, judges, attorneys, court officials, and the executive directors, boards, staff, and volunteers of domestic and sexual violence programs. The project has trained thousands of faith leaders in local, national, and international communities, equipping them to respond appropriately to victims and survivors within their congregations and to develop preventive strategies and safe church initiatives.
Traci is frequently sought after to assist organizations with community engagement and to share her expertise in fostering collaboration between faith communities and first responders to create a victim-centered, trauma-informed coordinated community response to violence. Her approach emphasizes healing modalities that are culturally relevant to specific communities. The Department of Justice, which is the project's primary funder, has recognized Traci's work as "worthy of duplication."
Traci's commitment to serving marginalized communities has received national recognition from the White House, where she was honored at the inaugural United States of Women Summit in Washington, D.C. There, she articulated her mission to address the impact of cultural inequalities on victims and survivors of color to members of Congress, the Senate, White House staff, advocates, and the nation.
A respected leader in both faith and advocacy communities, Traci has preached, taught, and trained in 44 cities across the United States. Her ability to bridge faith and advocacy makes her highly sought after, and she has reached beyond U.S. borders, teaching internationally at Hochschule Liebenzell University School of Social Work in Germany. Most recently, she was invited to work on the Liat Rosenstein Date Rape Project in Israel and the Domestic Violence and Faith Collaboration in Uganda.
Traci serves as a National Consultant and Curriculum Specialist for the African American Domestic Peace Project, formerly known as the Institute on Domestic Violence in the African American Community (IDVAAC), ENFUSE Action Collective, SAC (Sexual Assault Collaborative) and is a featured expert in videos produced for the National Clearinghouse on Abuse in Later Life (NCALL). She has conducted numerous webinars and video series on faith and domestic violence, including “A Break From The Bench,” a series designed for judges and court officials focused on providing culturally relevant services.
Traci has offered domestic violence training courses eligible for continuing education units to various national organizations and universities, including her alma mater, Northeastern University, the University of Massachusetts Boston, Mississippi Valley State University, St. Leo University in Florida, Salem State University, Merrimack College, Michigan Neighborhood Legal Services, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, Safe Havens Interfaith Partnerships Against Domestic Violence, the California Judicial Council, Boston CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children), DOVE Inc., the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence, SCESA (Sisters of Color Ending Sexual Assault), OUR HOUSE, Inc., SASS (Sisters Against Abuse Society), the Office on Violence Against Women, CASA Myrna, and numerous faith communities.
Reverend Jackson also serves on several boards, including Jane Doe Inc. and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, as well as the Boston Police Commissioner’s Roundtable on Community Engagement. She is the Board Chair of Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence. Reverend Traci serves as the Senior Pastor of Wellspring Global Fellowship, a multicultural, non-denominational church that strives to be "an inexhaustible resource made available for the community.
